Social media is a grow bed of scams. Whatsapp messages, facebook posts etc. claiming to reward you with free laptops distributed by Indian Government is the new member to the scam list. The message says, Government is distributing laptops to students of all states through a scheme called Pradhan Mantri Laptop Vitran Yojna. For that you should register your name and other details in a FAKE website pmyojna.com . As mentioned the website itself is a spam filled site, asking your details and to share the message about the website with 12 friends. With an image of prime minister Narendra Modi, the website is designed well so as to cheat in-experienced users.
Even after sharing the message with 12 friends, you will not gain anything but a little time loss. It also asks you to like their Facebook page. Our recommendation for this is never to open links claiming like this, before official news are announced over mainstream media.
We found than another website is also working with similar intentions. With a fake address: modi-free-laptop-order.com, the intentions of this website owners also might be similar to the former. Anyway, users must be careful in not sharing personal details with any such fraudsters.
